Mr. Del Rio's ESL Classroom

Welcome to my page! I have designed this page to provide families and students with information and resources to support our multilingual learners. My goal is to provide students with a welcoming and supportive environment where they can develop confidence in English while celebrating their languages, cultures, and individual experiences.

About Mr. Del Rio

Hello! My name is Mr. Del Rio, and I am proud to serve as an ESL teacher.

I was born in Cuba and came to the United States as a child. When I arrived in the United States, I was also part of an ESL program, so I understand firsthand what it is like to learn a new language and adjust to a new school environment.

I am especially proud to have attended Franklin School as a student. Being able to return to the same school community as an educator makes this opportunity especially meaningful to me.

My experiences as an English learner have shaped my approach to teaching and my commitment to helping students feel supported, respected, and confident.

ESL Program

The ESL program supports multilingual learners as they develop the English skills needed for success in school and in their everyday lives.

Students develop skills in:

Listening — Understanding directions, conversations, and academic instruction.

Speaking — Building confidence when communicating and expressing ideas.

Reading — Developing vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

Writing — Strengthening grammar, sentence structure, and written communication.

For Families

Families play an important role in their child’s academic and language development.

Families are encouraged to:

  • Read with their children regularly.
  • Encourage communication and conversation.
  • Celebrate and continue using the home language.
  • Review schoolwork and classroom materials.
  • Contact me with questions or concerns.
